Mud house villas and lawn at Matir Maya Eco Resort in Sreepur, Gazipur

Sreepur · Gazipur · Bangladesh

The country's first resort built entirely of earth.

Mud villas under old trees, a salt-water pool, a quiet lake and a Bengali kitchen — roughly two hours from Dhaka, and a world away from it.

Matir Maya

Walls of mud, cool at midday, warm at night.

Matir Maya means the affection of the soil. Our villas are built the way rural Bengal has built for centuries — thick earthen walls that hold the day's heat outside, tiled roofs, timber verandas. Inside, they are quietly modern: air conditioning, Wi-Fi, rain showers, plush linen.
